Folsom bought Crescent to supply them with inexpensive shotguns fast which Crescent did very well.
Folsom owned Crescent Fire Arms having bought the company in 1893 and sold it to Savage Arms Company in 1930. Then there was a very large wholesale sporting goods dealer, retailer and jobber located in New York City known as H & D Folsom. A 'Trade Brand Name' shotgun is one made by a major maker (Crescent) for and sold at either wholesale or retail by a wholesale sporting goods dealer, retail chain store or and independent seller ((your local hardware store). They were the largest maker ever of 'Trade Brand Name' shotguns making over 2,500,000 single and double barrel shotguns using about 1,200 known names. Crescent Fire Arms Company was located in Norwich, Ct from about 1892 to 1930+.
